Operations Associate

New York, United States Full-time

Hello! It’s nice to meet you. Anchor is a small startup (9 full-time people, launched about a year ago) focused on democratizing audio and making it incredibly easy for anyone to make and hear great audio on their phone. Our app’s been featured repeatedly by both Apple and Google; we’ve been promoted in great publications ranging from the New York Times and Bloomberg to TechCrunch and The Verge; we’re backed by some of the best investors in the world; and people tell us all the time how much they love using Anchor. In short, we are doing cool things. And we’d love your help to do cool things better and faster!

We’re looking for someone to assist with day-to-day operations, which covers a whole lot of stuff and will shift regularly as our needs change, offering you the unique opportunity to get exposure to every aspect of a growing startup. It also means, though, that you need to be extremely adaptable, energetic, and capable of moving very quickly. This is an entry-level role with a ton of room to grow as the company grows.

Responsibilities may include things like:

  • Customer support: answer emails, write support articles, manage feature requests
  • Community: listen to stations, greet new users in the app, feature great content so others can hear it too
  • Office administration: keep the kitchen stocked, order supplies, coordinate team lunches & outings
  • QA: test new features on iOS, Android, and web; provide feedback and report issues as needed
  • Marketing: work on app/website copy, write newsletters or blog posts, buy ads on social platforms, help plan events, etc

(You don’t have to have experience in all of these already, but you should be excited about the prospect of doing each one.)

  • Exceptional communication (both spoken and written) and organizational skills
  • Endless positivity and enthusiasm
  • Ability to keep yourself busy, context switch easily, and prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Familiarity with and curiosity about technology; interest in learning about how apps and websites are built if you don’t know already
  • Willingness to do whatever needs to be done, including learning new skills quickly
  • Proven interest in audio or a related creative field

  • Competitive entry-level salary, stock options, and whatever hardware, software, books, and tools you need to get your job done
  • Benefits: medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k, flexible vacation policy
  • Dog-friendly office
  • A small team full of very nice, very smart people who can’t wait to work with you!
