As an early member of Anchor’s server team, you’ll play a critical role in helping us define the future of audio. We firmly believe that there is endless innovation just waiting to happen in the audio space. You’ll get to work alongside a cross-functional team of engineering, product, content, and community team members. This is a unique opportunity to be one of the very first hires for a consumer-facing and product-driven company that’s backed by some of the best investors in Silicon Valley and NY. This is a full-time role based in New York City.

Responsibilities will evolve as we grow, but may include things like:

  • Building out the Node.js server that powers Anchor’s mobile and web apps, in a way that can simultaneously serve huge volumes of concurrent users
  • Helping to provision and manage every part of Anchor’s cloud infrastructure, from file storage to web and database servers
  • Architecting and implementing the front- and back-ends of both public facing and internal websites
  • Working closely with Anchor’s data and writing efficient queries against it
  • Designing and building out our infrastructure for scalability, using techniques such as serverless components (e.g. AWS Lambda)
  • Seeing projects through from conception to launch
  • Keeping code maintainable through extensive documentation and automated tests

Requirements:

  • A sense of humor
  • 3+ years of experience building web apps (back- and front-end)
  • 3+ years of experience writing highly optimized SQL
  • Fluency in Javascript, HTML, and CSS, as well as a deep understanding of REST
  • Solid understanding of Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience working with Node.js
  • Excitement about challenging computer science problems, and a love for clean code
  • Strong foundation in object oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns
  • Familiarity with git
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Persistent/determined work ethic and a willingness to try anything and everything
  • Strong interest in podcasts, radio, or audio in general
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
